    I'm completely ignorant and inexperienced, so bear with me: Is it possible to use only the vocal part of a sample, while muting the instrumental part? If so, how would this be done? Thank you.

    What acapella are you looking for? It might already be out here.

    There are a some different ways to make your own acapella. There's an EQing method, an inversion method and various softwares. I haven't been able to get a really high quality acappella but most have been good enough. It's best to start off with WAV files as mp3's don't work much with these methods.

    Just an FYI... this method doesn't always work. So, don't drive yourself crazy trying for hours and hours. Also, in the end, it's unlikely that you'll get a clean acapella. For better results, look for the clean acappella from the label.
